Ravishankar Bhooplapur, Advisor to the Board of Trustees
Mr. Ravishankar Bhooplapur (Ravi), President of Xavier University School of Medicine in Aruba, has over 25 years’ experience in insurance industry and is Founder & CEO of Vision Financial Services, New York. He has been an active leader in both the business as well as the philanthropic.
Mr. Ravi is an active member of Rotary International as President of Rotary club in Great Neck in 2004 and helped installing District Governor of Rotary International July 2nd, 2009. He is an Arch Klump Society Charted Member, and Inducted to Hall of Fame member at Rotary Foundation in 2005. The Rotary Foundation has awarded numerous awards including Meritorious Service Award, Distinguished Service Award and Rotary Foundation’s highest award Service above Self for his commitment to humanitarian work worldwide.
Mr. Ravi holds board member position of numerous charities, hospitals, and businesses. He is the founder of the “Gift of Life India” that has been instrumental in saving several children’s lives to date by providing heart surgery to children under the age of 15.
In 2009, Mr. Ravi was recognized by the United States Congress and presented an award by Congressman Gary Ackerman, for his outstanding contributions to local & international humanitarian causes.
In 2012 he was awarded the prestigious “ Ellis Island Medal of Honor “, which celebrates medalists ‘professional contributions to the United States of America and their immigrant heritage.
In addition to all of Ravi’s Leadership and Philanthropic activities in Rotary and Gift of Life India, Mr. Ravi is a globetrotter who has visited nearly a hundred nations around the world and has also been extremely active in worldwide rotary projects. Mr. Ravi is happily married to Jayasheela since 30 years and has two children, Amogh and Manali.
